Starting a Project
Who Does Calorie Work With?
We primarily support independent and growing streetwear brands, startup founders, and designer-led teams that need custom product development and production support.
Our strongest collaborations involve:
- Original product or brand direction
- Clear and consolidated feedback
- Realistic development planning
- Respect for sampling and approval
- An intention to improve or repeat successful products
You do not need to be a large brand. For many product categories, suitable projects can start from approximately 50 pieces per design.
See How We Support Growing Brands →What Products Can Calorie Develop?
Calorie develops custom T-shirts, hoodies, sweatshirts, pants, shorts, coordinated sets, jerseys, jackets, windbreakers, denim, and other cut-and-sew garments.
The practical development route depends on the intended fit, fabric, construction, techniques, quantity, and product positioning.
More complex products may require additional material testing, pattern development, or sample rounds.
Explore Custom Streetwear Products →Can I Start Without a Complete Tech Pack?
Yes.
You can begin with:
- Annotated reference images
- A design sketch or AI rendering
- Basic measurements
- Artwork files
- A physical reference garment
- Product links
- An incomplete tech pack
- A short written product brief
Calorie will identify the missing decisions that must be confirmed before sampling or quotation.
A clearer specification usually produces a more accurate quotation, more useful first sample, and more repeatable bulk-production standard.
See How to Start →Do You Offer Private-Label Customization?
Yes. Depending on the project, Calorie can support custom garments, fits, fabrics, colors, woven labels, care labels, size labels, hang tags, trims, printing, embroidery, washing, specialty techniques, and branded packaging.
Availability, minimum quantities, development requirements, and production timing must be confirmed for each item.
MOQ and Quotations
What Is Calorie’s Minimum Order Quantity?
Suitable projects may start from approximately 50 pieces per design.
The exact MOQ can depend on:
- Product category
- Fabric availability
- Number of colors
- Quantity split by color and size
- Garment construction
- Printing, embroidery, washing, or other techniques
- Custom trims and accessories
- Material supplier minimums
Some custom-developed fabrics, colors, trims, or processes may require a higher minimum.
Learn Why Low MOQ Matters →How Does Calorie Quote a Project?
Pricing is based on the confirmed:
- Construction and fit
- Fabric and trims
- Printing, embroidery, washing, or other techniques
- Quantity and color split
- Size range
- Labels and branding
- Packaging requirements
- Development difficulty
- Production timing
- Shipping basis where applicable
A clear product brief helps us price the product you actually want rather than a simplified assumption.
Submit for Project Review →Can You Give an Accurate Price from One Reference Image?
Usually not.
A reference image may show the general appearance, but it often does not confirm:
- Fabric composition or weight
- Measurements and fit
- Internal construction
- Stitching requirements
- Print or embroidery method
- Wash or finishing process
- Quantity and color breakdown
- Labels and packaging
- Delivery destination
We can review the image, identify missing information, and explain what must be confirmed before preparing an accurate quotation.
Can I Request Different Quantity Options?
Yes. Tell us the quantity levels you are considering.
Where practical, we can review how material purchasing, production setup, minimum requirements, and pricing may change at different quantities.
Each quantity option must use the same confirmed product scope for a meaningful comparison.
Sampling
How Long Does Sampling Take?
Sampling time depends on:
- Material availability
- Pattern and construction difficulty
- Required custom techniques
- Number of sample versions
- External testing requirements
- Speed of technical decisions
- Number of revision rounds
Selected projects with complete information, available materials, and a controlled production route may qualify for Calorie’s seven-working-day sampling service.
Complex or custom-developed projects require more time.
Check Seven-Day Sampling Eligibility →When Does the Seven-Working-Day Period Begin?
Working Day 1 begins only after all required items have been confirmed, including:
- Product scope
- Specifications and measurements
- Artwork and placements
- Available materials or approved substitutes
- Sample payment
- Delivery information
Receiving an initial enquiry or reference image does not automatically start the seven-working-day period.
What Is Completed by Working Day 7?
For an accepted seven-working-day project, Calorie completes:
- The first physical sample
- The required internal review
- The sample photo or video update sent to the client
Physical sample shipment, international transit, and later revision rounds are separate from the seven-working-day period.
How Many Sample Rounds Should I Plan?
Many new products need more than one sample version.
The number of rounds depends on:
- How complete the starting information is
- Whether the fit is already established
- Material and technique complexity
- How much the design changes after review
- Whether several effects must be compared
Brands should plan for review and possible revision rather than assuming the first sample will automatically become the final bulk standard.
Does an Approved Sample Automatically Start Bulk Production?
No.
Bulk production begins only after the required sample, specifications, materials, measurements, techniques, quantity, labels, packaging, commercial terms, and production instructions have been approved in writing.
Sample approval should create a clear standard—not an informal assumption.
Fabrics and Custom Processes
Can Calorie Help Source Fabrics and Trims?
Yes. We can help evaluate and coordinate suitable fabrics and trims according to the intended product.
Factors that may need to be confirmed include:
- Composition
- GSM or material weight
- Stretch and recovery
- Shrinkage
- Hand feel
- Color
- Surface appearance
- Availability
- Supplier minimums
- Lead time
- Performance requirements
Stock materials can be a practical option for lower-quantity testing. Custom-developed materials normally require additional minimums and time.
Can You Reproduce Special Washes, Puff Printing, or Embroidery?
Calorie can evaluate a wide range of streetwear techniques, including printing, embroidery, appliqué, washing, garment dyeing, distressing, rhinestones, beading, sublimation, and other specialty finishes.
The result depends on:
- Artwork quality
- Design dimensions
- Fabric structure
- Technique parameters
- Placement
- Color
- Post-treatment
- Acceptable production tolerance
Sampling is important because wash, dye, distressing, and dimensional effects may contain natural variation.
Explore 20+ Custom Processes →Can Several Custom Techniques Be Used on One Garment?
Possibly.
Multiple techniques must be reviewed together because one process may affect another. For example, washing, heat, fabric stretch, embroidery weight, print placement, and garment construction can create production conflicts.
High-risk combinations should be tested during development before bulk production.
Calorie may recommend changing the process sequence, artwork scale, material, or construction while protecting the core design direction.
Quality and Bulk Production
How Does Calorie Control Quality from Sample to Bulk?
The approved sample and written specifications define the shared production standard.
Depending on the project, relevant checkpoints may include:
- Material confirmation
- Key measurements
- Garment construction
- Workmanship
- Printing or embroidery placement
- Technique appearance
- Labels and branding
- Color consistency
- Packing requirements
- Final inspection before shipment
The exact quality-control plan depends on the product and confirmed order requirements.
View Our Quality Standards →Can the Bulk Order Be Exactly Identical to the Sample?
The approved sample should define the intended standard, but apparel production still involves controlled tolerances.
Material batches, garment washing, dyeing, hand-applied techniques, embroidery, and dimensional processes may produce limited variation.
Important measurements, colors, technique effects, and acceptable tolerances should be confirmed before bulk production.
A successful sample should become a documented reference rather than the only source of information.
When Does Bulk Production Begin?
Bulk production begins after the required approvals have been completed.
These may include:
- Approved sample
- Confirmed measurements and grading
- Approved fabric and trims
- Confirmed artwork and techniques
- Final quantity and color breakdown
- Approved labels and packaging
- Confirmed payment and commercial terms
- Production instructions shared with the relevant teams
Changing approved details after bulk production begins may affect price, quality, and delivery timing.
View the Production Process →Urgent Projects
Can Calorie Handle an Urgent Project?
We can review time-sensitive projects when the specifications, materials, capacity, client decision speed, and shipping plan make the target realistic.
An urgent project is evaluated according to:
- Whether the specifications are complete
- Whether suitable materials are available
- Construction and technique complexity
- Required sample and approval steps
- Production capacity
- Client response speed
- Shipping destination and method
Urgency does not automatically justify skipping the sample, approval, or quality-control stages.
Every accelerated schedule must be confirmed project by project.
Will Calorie Guarantee My Launch Date?
A launch plan can be evaluated, but the production and delivery schedule depends on confirmed specifications, approvals, materials, production requirements, client decisions, and shipping conditions.
Calorie will explain whether the proposed route appears realistic and identify the milestones that must be protected.
A target launch date should not be treated as confirmed until the related development, production, and shipping plan has been reviewed.
Reorders and Shipping
Can I Add Colors or Reorder a Product Later?
Yes, subject to material availability, process requirements, and production capacity.
Approved samples, measurements, specifications, artwork, and previous production records create a clearer starting point for repeat orders.
However, the following may still need to be reconfirmed:
- Fabric availability
- New material batches
- Color consistency
- Trim availability
- Process-dependent colors
- Updated quantities and sizes
- Current production timing
A repeat order should use the previous information as a reference, not assume that every material and condition remains unchanged.
Do You Ship Internationally?
Yes. Calorie works with clients in multiple countries and can discuss:
- Express courier
- Air freight
- Sea freight
- Split-shipment arrangements
The practical shipping method depends on quantity, carton size, delivery timing, destination, and project requirements.
Freight costs, duties, taxes, customs clearance, and importer responsibilities should be confirmed for the specific order.
Is International Shipping Included in the Product Price?
Shipping terms must be stated in the relevant quotation or order agreement.
An accurate freight estimate requires the destination, shipment method, approximate packed weight or volume, and final shipment information.
Duties, taxes, customs charges, and import responsibilities depend on the destination and agreed shipping terms.
